POLICE have charged two teenagers with possessing graffiti equipment as part of a crackdown on graffiti in Launceston.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were charged by members of a graffiti taskforce for possessing the equipment at the Kings Meadows shopping precinct recently.
Constable Simon U'Ren said that the teenagers had committed about 50 offences each and were part of a larger group responsible for graffiti across the city.
They will be charged under the Youth Justice Act.
The taskforce, set up on March 26, was a response to an increase in incidents of graffiti and consists of two full-time members, including Constable U'Ren, and another eight officers from the Public Order Response Team as back-up.
